Completion of the MAESTRO project!

Now is the time to summarize. 2020 was the last year of the implementation of a great international and interdisciplinary project in Paphos financed by the NCN Maestro 6 grant, which started in 2015.

Last Maestro Campaign

Tenth Paphos Agora Project Research Campaign - 2020
Director: Professor Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka

In 2020, despite the difficult epidemiological situation, after obtaining the necessary approval of the authorities of the Jagiellonian University and the Department of the Antiquities of Cyprus, a study
campaign was successfully carried out. It was the tenth campaign of the Paphos Agora Project, a project that began operating in 2011. In the period from August 16th to September 30th, the Paphos Agora Project team conducted the last research campaign financed by the MAESTRO 6 grant of the Polish National Science Centre. It was a study campaign and its aim was to verify some of the results of the excavation research from
previous years and to complete the preparation of the materials in terms to prepare the final report. A small group of researchers took part in this campaign: E. Papuci-Władyka, Ł. Miszk, M. Kajzer, K.
Nocoń, A. Milczuk. The grant ended on October 22nd, 2020.

The international and interdisciplinary MAESTRO project started in 2015 and focused on researching the economic and commercial activity of the city. Research on the Agora was continued, but the work was extended to the area of the Archaeological Park outside it in search of economic infrastructure using non-invasive methods. The research has produced remarkable results, partially already published in numerous articles, conference proceedings and in the first volume of the new series entitled "Paphos Agora Project (PAP) vol. 1. Interdisciplinary Research of the Jagiellonian University in Nea Paphos UNESCO World Heritage Site (2011-2015): First Results", ed. E. Papuci-Władyka. Krakow: Historia Iagellonica.
